Some useful information for team captains...

Match calendars

The fixtures for all teams in the current season are available in the respective pages on the ladies', men's and mixed teams. An overview of all fixtures for all teams in the current season is available here.

Please note: The match calendars on our site have been carefully produced, but we cannot exclude the possibility of errors or, indeed, changes. Therefore, please be sure that you check the dates and times on our match calendar carefully against the official version on the VVBBC website, especially at the beginning of the season. In the end, this is the one and only version that counts.

Documents and useful information

Team sheets

Before each match, both teams should exchange team sheets in order to avoid that one team changes its line-up after it has seen the opponent’s formation. These team sheets should be completed and exchanged before the score sheet is filled in and before the first match is played.

Selecting your team

When selecting your team, please make sure only to select players who have been registered with the VBL. If you would like to 'use' a player who has not been registered yet, please contact the match secretary before the match to get the player registered.

Please make sure the players you select are actually allowed to play on your team. As a general rule, anyone registered for a team in a higher division cannot play 'down'. At the same time, anyone registered for a different team in the same division cannot play 'across' either. If in doubt, please contact the match secretary.

Score sheets

There are two types of schore sheets, both of which need to be filled in: the traditional paper score sheet (currently being phased out) and the electronic score sheet.

In both cases, when playing away, the matter of the score sheet is dealt with by the opposition. When playing at home, it is your responsibility as captain to fill in the score sheet and to make sure that both teams as well as the league get a copy of it. Please avoid mistakes or omissions because we’ll be fined for every error in a score sheet…

Paper score sheets
Paper score sheets should be filled in immediately after (or even during) the match and must be signed by the captains of both teams, and in some cases also by a "wedstrijdleider" (see below).

Who gets what?
The home team keeps the last (pink) copy of the score sheet. The yellow sheet is for the opposition. Finally, the white and green copies must be sent to the league at the latest on the first working day following the match.

The address is:

VVBBC Sportcommissie
Guido Claes
Mechelsesteenweg 387
3020 Herent

Electronic score sheets
All match results must also be entered online in the website www.toernooi.nl. The direct link to the 2008 mixed competition is http://www.toernooi.nl/sport/tournament.aspx?id=23415. Note that you have to log on in order to be able to enter results.

The detailed results of your home matches must be entered into the website within 24 hours of the match (preferably on the Sunday evening of a match weekend at the latest). Please contact the match secretary if you have any questions about how to use the website.

Referees ("Wedstrijdleiders")

The club has four referees (or 'wedstrijdleiders') officially regognised by the VBL, who can be consulted whenever you have a question about the rules on how to play a match, fill in a scoresheet, what to do in case you need to substitute a player after a match has started, etc. Each referee can act and sign as 'wedstrijdleider' (i.e. an official who oversees a match) if necessary. The club's referees are Doede, Erica, Gunnar and Susanne.

In the first divisions, all score sheets must always be signed by a "wedstrijdleider" (the person in charge of 'running' the match. Please get one of the club's four "wedstrijdleiders" to sign your score sheet. A "wedstrijdleider" can be part of the team playing the match, but cannot be the captain. If a "webstrijdleider" takes part in a match, they cannot sign off the score sheets of other matches happening at the same time which they were not involved in.

In all other divisions, a "wedstrijdleider" is recommended but not compulsory. It is useful to have one at hand in case there are problems, and it is also useful to get one to sign your score sheet just in case. See above for whom to contact... However, please do not just let anyone sign it - it is better for the score sheet not to be signed by a "wedstrijdleider" than for it to be signed by someone who is not authorised to do so.

Changing fixtures

The dates for any fixture should only be changed if absolutely necessary. Changes are only possible with the agreement of both teams and if there is a good and proven reason. The VVBBC does not take kindly to changing the date of a match after the official match calendar has been confirmed and approved by all clubs.

If a new date has been agreed by both clubs, the club initiating the change must inform the VVBBC in writing and state the reason for the change. If possible, written proof of the reason why the match cannot take place on the foreseen date should be provided (such as a letter confirming a hall closure). The best idea is to do this by e-mail. The address is:

VVBBC Sportcommissie - Guido Claes: wlgclaes@yahoo.com

Mobile : 0476/99.15.18

See below ('Score sheets') for the postal address.

And finally…:

While it is the captains’ responsibility to sort out matters regarding their team, it is the match secretary who keeps in touch with the league administration (VVBBC and VBL) and who keeps an eye on all the club’s teams. Therefore, please do not hesitate to contact Gunnar if he can be of any help.
